Treatment Solutions for you! Missing teeth Spacing / Crowding Tooth Discolouration Old Crowns Old Fillings Jaw Joint Pain Worn Teeth Gum Problems

Old Fillings

In the past, the most durable filling materials were not the most attractive! Amalgam, silver and gold materials were the most common and strongest option for repairing and restoring teeth. With advancements in technology and placement techniques, you now have a choice of many aesthetic options which no longer mean that you have to compromise on your appearance. Amalgam restorations along with looking unsightly also do not bond to your teeth, so the risks of fractures in these teeth are considerably increased.

The alternatives for the replacement of your old fillings include:

  • Tooth Coloured Fillings
  • Inlays and Onlays
  • Porcelain crowns

Patient Testimonial

"My amalgam fillings were fifty years old - very discoloured and ugly.

They were replaced with ceramic crowns by Dr Dunn. Not only is there an aesthetic improvement but my mouth feels more comfortable and food does not lodge in the crevices, as it used to. My teeth look as though they have never had any work done to them, and they are so easy to clean around.

Over the three sessions needed for each block of crowns the staff at Macquarie Street centre were most professional, caring and mindful of my comfort as a patient. Dr Dunn has a most gentle approach and I never at any time was in discomfort.

I am very happy with the result and would certainly recommend The Macquarie Street Centre to anyone thinking of having a similar procedure"

Pam

Patient Solution

John was in his late fifties and was looking to replace his old fillings with all-ceramic crowns, he was approaching retirement and the last thing he wanted to do was keep visiting the dentist! He had many old fillings in his front teeth, which continually needed replacing due to staining and general wear and tear. He did not want too much of a lift in shade, so we kept it fairly similar to his original. Whilst preparing new ceramic crowns for John, we were also able to correct the alignment of his lower teeth, which improved the appearance of his teeth, and made cleaning a lot easier.
